Mom of 4 East students who attend Breton Downs, Middle School and High School.
My husband Nick and I both graduated from East in 2000 and later returned in 2011 to raise our family here. We have four kids spanning all district levels with wide ranging interests and needs for support. I have a child whose journey in advanced math started in third grade and other children who are benefitting from the additional support of IEP and 504b plans. The variety of needs in my own family re-enforces to me the importance of teaching to the individual while also fostering a sense community where all students feel like they belong.
You can see me out and about, volunteering to support the kids, attending events for the crew team, marching band, drama program, middle school orchestra, and a few youth soccer teams.
When not working or volunteering I enjoy Masters swimming at the high school pool, biking, reading, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
After graduating law school, I worked in municipal law and clerked for a judge. I took a break from full-time work to raise our family and committed myself to volunteering for my church and our school district. I led a collaborative redevelopment project for Madison Church, which resulted in 41 units of affordable housing and space to operate a YMCA early childhood center, among other tenants.
The redevelopment project kept me so busy that I hired a house cleaner. Her effectiveness coupled with my social network provided her with enough work to meaningfully impact her family’s finances. That experience prompted me to start a residential cleaning business to create more opportunity for women. In addition to economic opportunity, the company has also become a training-ground in business management and development.
I am currently the executive director of a nonprofit financial lending organization. This role has given me additional education in investment securities and financial and management experience that will serve the board well.
Like so many other parents, I have a long history of serving alongside our wonderful teachers and administrators. I’ve supported numerous classroom activities, “learning commons” visits, and field trips. I’ve led the middle school PTO, chaperoned the 8th grade East Coast Trip, and led the PTO Council (an advisory group for all EGR PTOs). Parental commitment and involvement is a significant component East’s success.
